Nihar Jambusaria has 38 years of experience and is a qualified Charter Accountant (1984).

Professional Background & Accomplishments

  • He began working with Reliance Industries Ltd. in 2011 as Senior Vice President, Taxation and remained there through April 2020. Currently provides consulting services to the Reliance group and others.
  • He served as the President and Vice President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India’s (ICAI) in the fiscal years 2021-22 and 2020-21 respectively. He was in Central Council from 2013 to 2022.
  • He was the Chairman of the Western India Regional Council (WIRC) for the fiscal year 2004-05 and served WIRC as an elected member from 2001 through 2006
  • He is a member of the Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Advisory Group of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). He was on the board of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and represented ICAI as its President in International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). He has also served as a Member of the SAFA Committee on Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) and was chosen to serve as SAFA’s Vice President in 2022.
  • He was a member of the Indian C&AG’s- Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board (GASAB) and Audit Advisory Board. He was also a Board Member of the Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority (IRDA), the Insurance Advisory Committee and Apex Committee of IRDA, and a Member of SEBI’s Primary Market Advisory Committee. He was the Chairman of the Accounting and Finance Services Sectional Committee of BIS. Additionally, the University Grants Commission nominated him to serve on the Review Committee for the BCom (Hons) and BCom New Syllabus (UGC)
  • He was the Chairman of the Ind AS Implementation Committee, International Tax Committee and various other important Committees/ Boards of ICAI & has also attended and contributed to national and international seminars and addressed more than 1000 seminars /conferences so far.
